Alex Tilley's need for a proper sailing hat led to the unintended creation of the best such hat in the world,
over 25 years ago. His gratitude goes out to those who appreciated the qualities of the first ’Tilley’.
This encouragement evolved into his ongoing passion to provide travellers with endurable clothing that allows
their focus to be on ’the adventure’, rather than the rigours of life on the go.
Alex couldn't find a cotton sailing hat in keeping with the quality of his lovely sloop. Sailors need hats and there wasn't a good-enough one anywhere. Realizing that others besides himself needed one too, he decided, in January 1980, to oversee the making of a proper one. Three months later he had prototypes that his family could test on a sailing charter in Belize, and a couple of months after that they had succeeded in making some that they could attach thier name to. |

Tilley T5 Hat

Tilley LTM6 AirFlo Hat
The Tilley Airflo provides sun protection in a lighter weight construction. Tilley Airflo designs
incorporate mesh into the crown allowing coolness and comfort during hot days or strenuous
activities. Engineered from Tilley Nylamtium, a strong water-and-mildew resistant form of nylon.
The LTM6 is the Airflo version of Tilleys LT6 Hat, and has a broader brim and a taller crown than
all the other Tilleys. Made in Canada

This lighter weight (4 oz.) version of the T3 Tilley Hat has a medium-sized brim that snaps up in the Aussie manner. Made from Tilley Nylamtium, a durable, water-repellent nylon. A new innovation lets you secure your sunglasses through the grommets and have them securely held in place with a hidden Velcro tab. Tilly Hat Sizing
The hat should fit so that you can insert two fingers (flat) between the sweatband and your forehead.
The Tilley Hat LOOKS BETTER AND FITS MORE COMFORTABLY than most other hats.
It is to be WORN LOW FOR SUN PROTECTION and to give you an even more SPLENDID APPEARANCE and SLIGHTY LOOSE, for comfort.
On a calm day, it's held on by gravity, NOT BY PAINFUL PRESSURE ON YOUR FOREHEAD.
WHEN IT'S WINDY, first use the adjustable back cord, then if required, the chin cord.
You'll be pleased with the way the Tilly Hat fits especially on hot muggy days.
