In 1937 construction began on the Pine Mountain Ski Jump. Work continued in 1938 on the 156 feet high tower and the landing hill were finished. Then in 1939 the first competition was held and Bob Roecker from Duluth won over Alf Engen with 257 feet, which set a new American record. The jump has been renovated several times. The digging out of the outrun in 1948 and the enlargement of the in run tower after a fire in 1977. The height of the jump is 436 feet(133 meters). Every year, the Kiwanis Ski Club hosts the largest international ski jumping event in the US. One of the stops on the Continental Cup circuit, which is sanctioned by the Internatioal Ski Federation (FIS).
