The new EPK is a unique addition to the Bark River Line. It actually can be considered in the Bushcraft Series and has crossover into the Rescue-Survival Series. The PSK knife was designed to fit into an Otter Box 2000 as part of a very Portable Survival Kit. The EPK is small enough to fit in the Otter Box 1000 for an even more Compact Kit for pocket, pack, or glove box.
The concept was a collaborative idea between Mike Stewart and Jason Thourne. Developing a small knife to fit in the Otter Box 1000 with it's sheath and then be usable for any chore needed was an interesting challenge. The knife had to be able to stand up to uses that are usually never intended for a knife of this size. So it had to have enough thickness to be used roughly and enough geometry to still be an excellent cutter. The knife also had to be stainless, so CPM154 was chosen because of its toughness, edge holding and corrosion resistance. The EPK is a welcome addition to the Bark River Line and it will be a valuable asset to your own personal survival gear.
