The Bark River S-T-S-5 is a new design that was developed in 2009 at the specific request by members of the U.S. Marine Corp Force Recon.

The Face and nature of Warfare in the last 10 years has changed. With encounters becoming Face to Face and Chest to Chest it has been time for some new Strategy and some new training of Elite Units. The use of a knife as a weapon had really been mostly phased out for all U.S. Armed Forces.

Without going into Specifics on the Actual Training that has been adopted. There is now a need for a knife that is compact while still having enough blade to reach Vitals and stout enough to deliver enough energy to pierce to those vitals. The S-T-S-5 fits that need.

The handle slabs are Contoured and the Palm Swell is more forward than on a Bushcraft Knife or a Hunting Knife. All three of the last fingers of the hand curl behind the Swell and into a recessed contour of the slabs when holding the knife in Turse with blade forward. When held in Blade Reverse Grip the Palm Swell is perfectly centered in the Palm. The underside of the knife's handle is "Self Righting" in the hand no matter how you pick it up. The butt of the knife is rounded but protrudes just enough to be used as a Yawara in toe to toe encounters to gain that split second advantage.

All of the Handle Slabs are 100% interchangeable knife to knife. Each Set is CNC machined on both sides to fit the Blades and be held with the screw sets.

Each S-T-S-5 is supplied with a set of handles. The knives are NOT available without handle sets and come from the factory with the handle set installed. Each Knife is supplied with a 1/8 inch Hex (Allen) Key for removing and re-installing handle sets. All standard handle sets are Matte Finished.

The Standard Sheath for the S-T-S-5 is Kydex. The Color of the sheath will match the blade. The Kydex sheath is supplied with the same Belt Hanger that is supplied on the Bravo-1 Sheath. The eyelets in the sheath are also set for the Tec-Lok and for installing Molle Clips. Molle Adapter Clips are NOT included.

The blades are Electrostatic Powder Coated and come in Black, Green, and Tan. The powder coating will wear and they can chip in use, so the Bark River Warranty will not cover the powder coating on the blade once the knife is used.

Overall Length: 10.875 Inches

Blade Steel: 154CM S.S. @ 58rc
Blade Thickness: .270 Inch
Weight: 11.250 Ounces
